Step into the ancient and captivating world of wood burning. Join professional artist Jodie Appleton for an intimate, hands-on workshop tailored specifically for beginners. Pyrography blends patience, texture, and fire into a uniquely tactile art form. You will turn raw timber into stunning, personalized works of art.
The Fundamentals of Fire: Master your pyrography tool, control your heat settings, and understand how various wood grains react to heat.
Line Work & Shading: Build confidence with essential pen strokes to produce crisp lines, seamless gradients, and rich textures.
The workshop gives you the breathing room to slow down, practice your techniques, and burn your designs without any pressure.
To ensure a deeply personalized experience, this workshop is strictly limited to just 8 students. You will receive dedicated, one-on-one coaching and safety guidance from a professional artist every step of the way.
All materials, safety gear, and wood-burning tools provided for use.
A take-home guide packed with expert tips, safety reminders, and helpful resource links.
Two beautiful, small wood art pieces created by you to take home and display.
No prior drawing or artistic experience is necessary! This workshop will give you the confidence to burn beautifully.
It was one of the best organised workshops I've been on for a long time! We had a set plan to follow and you taught us the skills to play around with the pieces and stretch our artistic legs.
Such a great way to learn! Thank you!
Recommend Jodie's workshop if you have the opportunity!

Thank you to Jodie Appleton for a brilliant pyrography workshop today as part of the Waimarino Art Awards Workshops!
We all had great fun learning to burn drawings into wood and came away pleased with our little samplers and full of plans to buy poker work machines (or in my case, figure out where mine is amongst the mess).
